The grace of Helsinki

According to the respected authority that is the MacDictionary, ‘grace’ refers to ‘a simple elegance or refinement of movement’. I honestly can’t think of a better way to describe Helsinki, the lovely little capital city of Finland. It’s not a dramatic city, and it doesn’t throw it’s personality in your face in the way Melbourne or Paris or New York does, but it manages to creep it’s way under your skin nonetheless.

I’ve been there twice now, once in mid-winter (my first ever white Christmas!) and once in mid-summer, and it just seems to have this endearing integrity – a quiet solidity in the way it goes about it’s business. I can’t wait to go back 🙂
